About

Onyx Playbook started as a group chat between three friends who kept sending each other screenshots of mobile games at midnight. At some point the recommendations got serious enough that we decided to write them down properly. The site is what grew out of that habit.,We focus on RPGs, adventures, and anything with a story worth following on a small screen. That doesn't mean we ignore other genres, but progression and narrative are where our hearts are. If a game respects the player, we'll say so; if it wastes your evening, we'll say that too.,Choosing what to cover is simple: someone on the team has to actually finish a meaningful chunk of the game first. We don't review from trailers or a single tutorial. A racing game gets a dozen tracks, an RPG gets several hours of leveling before it earns a verdict.,We're independent and small, which is the whole point. No studio tells us what to write, and we'd rather stay tiny and honest than big and bought.
